Cairn IT

Terms of Service

Effective 11 May 2026 · Last updated 11 May 2026
The short version Use Cairn Guard for what it's for. Don't try to break it, redistribute the paid bits, or hold us responsible for things we didn't promise. Refunds within 30 days, no questions. Subject to Washington State law.

1. Who we are

"Cairn IT," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the sole proprietorship operating cairn.it.com, registered in Washington State, USA. "You" means the individual or organization using our products.

2. What you get

When you install Cairn Guard, the free tier is yours to use under these terms. When you purchase a paid plan (Solo or Team), you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the paid features for the duration of your active subscription.

3. Account and license keys

License keys are tied to your purchase and are intended for use by one individual (Solo) or the seat count you purchased (Team). Sharing a Solo license publicly or beyond a reasonable personal device count voids it. We may deactivate licenses found to be misused.

4. Payment, billing, and refunds

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. Your payment terms are governed by Lemon Squeezy's policies, including taxes and currency conversion.

Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your Lemon Squeezy customer dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: We offer a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund on any purchase. Email hello@cairn.it.com within 30 days of purchase and we'll process it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Our service obligations

We provide Cairn Guard on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The detection rule set is heuristic — it catches a large fraction of common sensitive-data patterns but is not exhaustive and is not a substitute for a comprehensive Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution. You are responsible for what your team pastes into AI chats; Cairn Guard reduces accidental leaks but does not eliminate them.

We will make reasonable efforts to maintain availability, respond to support requests within 1 business day (Team plan) or best-effort (Free / Solo), and patch security issues promptly.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy governs how we handle data. Notably: Cairn Guard runs locally in your browser; we do not see your prompts.

8. Termination

You can stop using Cairn Guard at any time by uninstalling the extension. We can terminate your license for material breach of these terms (e.g., redistribution, circumvention of paid features) with notice and an opportunity to cure when reasonable.

9. Disclaimer of warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cairn Guard is provided WITHOUT WARRANTY of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Cairn Guard is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from your misuse of Cairn Guard, including violations of these terms or applicable law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.

13. Changes

If we change these terms materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. For paid users, we'll send notice by email at least 14 days before changes take effect, unless the change is required by law or for security reasons.
